If your child is in Reception, year 1 or year 2 they can be provided with a free meal under the universal infant meal scheme. If your child is in Years 3-6 you can pay online for a meal in the usual way – we no longer take cash in the office.
We are proud of our food heritage which demonstrates our commitment to traceability of the meals we serve. Our meat main meals are freshly prepared on site and made with Red Tractor/Farm Assured fresh meat whilst our suppliers are audited by an external body to ensure they comply with our high standards and statutory obligations.
The food children eat in school is very important for their education. Not only does a well-balanced diet help with general health but establishing healthy eating habits at a young age can give them knowledge for the future. We understand primary school children and their likes and dislikes so we tailor our menus to encourage maximum uptake.
Healthy eating is at the very heart of our approach to food. We wholeheartedly encourage balanced eating patterns within our schools and investment in training and our policy of purchasing seasonal produce enables us to deliver exceptional value.
We have implemented our own Fresh Food Policy throughout our business which sets out our expectations and minimum requirements to meet the daily nutritional needs of the students and staff for whom we cater. We are proud to have gained professional recognition for the success of our Fresh Food Policy, including the Soil Association’s Food For Life Served Here at both “Silver” &”Gold” levels and Compassion in World Farming’s “Good Egg” Award.

The government provides a daily piece of fruit for each child aged 5 to 7 years. Any other snacks sent into school should comprise of fruit or veg only. No chocolate or sweets of any form should be brought into school. All food containers and lunch boxes must be clearly labelled with their owner’s name.
Children have free access to drinking water in school and are provided with a water bottle that they are encouraged to drink from at various points throughout the day.
The school has a policy of NO NUTS as we have children in school who have severe allergic reactions to nuts. Any contact with even the smallest trace of nuts, such as on a child’s breath, can cause a serious reaction. We request that you are extremely vigilant about the nut content of food you send your child to school with – spreads, muesli bars, cakes, biscuits, breakfast cereals and cereal bars are just some items that may contain nut traces.
Under a government initiative, schools have to provide milk for children. We use a company called Cool Milk to provide this for us. Milk is free for children under the age of 5 or those entitled to Income Related Free Meals (not the Universal Infant Meals). You need to register your child yourself at www.coolmilk.com. If your child is entitled to Income Related Free School Meals, we register these children so please just inform us if they wish to have milk.
